Clostridial Myonecrosis (aka Gas Gangrene) is a type of gangrene that can occur which is formed by Clostridium bacteria. The fast spreading bacterial creates gas that is trapped under the skin which can lead to severe infection and death of the tissue. This gangrene can develop from certain injuries and surgeries that could leave an open wound. It can affect the entire body but it more common in the arms and legs. Gas Gangrene in particular can impact the muscle tissue, and may not develop visible signs when initially affected, they will tend to turn pale first then a purple/red colour.

- Blisters at affected area(s)
- High fever
- Cold, hard skin
- Lesions
- Swelling
- Sudden pain at infection site
- Strong smelling discharges from wound

- Debridement
- Antibiotics
- Amputation (In extreme cases)
- Skin Grafts
